Lena and Greg Davis are active parents with two young boys, Nixon, June 14, 2018, and Carl, January 2, 2020. They moved to Oregon from Arizona in 2019 so Greg could work with Intel Corporation. Greg and Lena love the Northwest and enjoy many outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, boating, and camping. Lena works as a nurse for Tuality HealthCare, Oregon Health Science University (OHSU) Hillsboro.
Greg speaks Spanish and hosted a wedding in English and Spanish last year. He practices Spanish daily and spent summers in Costa Rica growing up.
This is an active family that enjoys physical activity and being outside. They enjoy camping, fishing, and boating. Each family member also appreciates painting. The boys have an arts and crafts station in the kitchen, Lena paints by number, and Greg paints miniatures. It is essential for the child(ren) to enjoy being outside. The child does not have to love every activity but tolerate spending a lot of time camping, being on a boat, fishing, and going to the mountains or the beach. Embracing two brothers and being kind to animals is important. They currently have four dogs and a python.
Lena and Greg Davis completed the 30 hour Parenting for Safety and Permanency Model Approach to Partnerships in Parenting (PS-MAPP) Group Preparation and Selection Program with Child Crisis Arizona which includes Trauma-Informed Parenting for Safety and Permanence. They also completed more than six hours training focused on transracial adoption.
Greg has minimal experience caring for a child that is not his, but more than anything else wants to be a mentor for the child he adopts. Lena has a large family and has a great deal of experience caring for children that are not her own. She is the oldest child of five, and her youngest twin brothers are not blood-related. Lena helped care for and raise her younger brothers as there is a 16 year age gap. As a young adult, Lena provided mentoring services to children in foster care. Greg was approved to go out on activities with the children Lena mentored. Once married, the couple sought out respite care opportunities.
