Family Description

We are a loving, committed, and spontaneous family of six! We are excited to add more children to our home. Our four biological children have incredibly blessed our lives, and we look forward to extending our love to another child/children. On any day, rain or shine, you will find us outside. Outdoor play is essential to our well-being, and the fresh air always brings a smile. Our home is busy but also stable and structured. Routine helps us enjoy each other and be productive. Not only do we have our four kids, but most days, we have at least two if not six neighborhood kids that become family for a few hours a day. We live an active lifestyle and enjoy helping out in our community and loving our neighbors.

Preference Description

We are looking to adopt a child or sibling group between the ages of 0 and 4 years old, of any ethnic background. We are willing to accept minor or medically correctable conditions.

The Box Family Profile

We want to adopt a child or sibling group between 0 to 4 years old. We are looking for a child or sibling group of up to 2 kids of any gender or ethnic background. We are willing to accept minor or medically correctable conditions/disabilities.

Introduction

We are Neil and Krystal. We live in Springfield, Oregon, with our four kids. They are 14, 12, 9, and 7 years old. Oh! And a mini Aussie-doddle named Avenger! I am a stay-at-home parent and have homeschooled our children for eight years. Neil owns a roofing business. When our school day is done, we enjoy being outside riding bikes, playing in the leaves, or staying inside by the cozy fire. We have dinner together as a family every night and chat about our day. If the weather permits, we go fishing, play at the river, swim in our pool, jump on the trampoline, or play with neighborhood friends. Some of our favorite traditions are going to Loon lake during the summer. There we catch fish, snakes, and bullfrogs. We also ride a jet ski, build forts, and play on the beach all day. We also enjoy traveling to the Bend and the coast. Other traditions we host are family gatherings during Christmas, Thanksgiving, and the Fourth of July.

Home and Community

We live in a suburban neighborhood close to the river, with bike trails and parks. Our kids are involved in soccer, violin, mountain biking, and church activities. But most of the time, you will find us outside, where our kids spend time playing with neighborhood friends.

Parenting Experience

We are honored to be parents. We see every day as a gift and a challenge. It's a challenge for us to help our kids build relationships with each other and others. The gift is watching them grow into a loving and responsible person. We are in ongoing training as teachers and parents. We do this through books, conferences, mentorship, and podcasts. Experience has been our greatest teacher. We have grown a lot as parents because nothing can substitute for the day in and day out of parenting and the joy and challenges. In the past, I, Krystal, teach at our homeschool community and work with the kids at my church. Neil also works with the kids at our church and, in the past, ran a local high school training camp for athletes. Neil also has a youth pastor degree and did internships with middle and high school youth groups. We have educated ourselves in trauma-informed parenting classes, TBRI, and prenatal exposure.

Support

We have a large group of support around us. We both have extended family who live nearby and a great church community, homeschool community, and neighborhood. Within these communities, we have several families who have experience with foster care and adoption. Our family and friends are excited to be a part of our adoption journey.

Motivation to Adopt

Although we could have had more biological kids, we chose to grow our family through adoption. Neil was adopted as a young child and had a good experience. We have seen beautiful stories of love and sacrifice with other family members who have adopted. It is something we feel God put on our hearts to do. We see children as a blessing and feel we have more room in our home and hearts to give love to another child. Our kids are the most excited when we talk about adopting a young child, one they can help take care of and teach.
