The Klopp Family Profile

We are looking to adopt a boy or girl between the ages of 0 to 10 years old, of any ethnic background. We are willing to accept minor or medical conditions, a child with special needs and developmental delays. We are experienced special needs parents.

Introduction

We love one another and our children. As a family we are laid back and calm. We are not constantly busy so the kids have time to just be kids and play. Duane is retired so he is home tinkering on projects. He has a beautiful garden and is building a new play structure for our back yard. I work as a PSW for a company that specializes in working with individuals that have intellectual and developmental issues. I enjoy quilting and spending time with our children reading, playing games and watching movies. We love routines and eat dinner as a family every night. Even if it is roasting hotdogs and making smore's in the backyard.

Home and Community

We live in Independence, Oregon. We are within walking distance to a grade school, the middle and high schools. There is a small park very close to our home as well. We live in a quiet neighborhood. Every summer we attend live music in two of the large parks and movie nights outdoors.

Parenting Experience

We have a great deal of experience caring for children. We have 3 grown children and 15 grandchildren (12 biological plus 3 bonus). Plus, the three children we have living at home. We have also taken several courses and read books that apply to parenting an adopted child. Our youngest son has special needs as do our twin grandsons. We have networked to have contact information of recommended specialists, doctors, schools in our area.

Support

We are fortunate to live so close to our extended family members. Our adult children and parents are involved with us now and will be after this adoption too.

Motivation to Adopt

We understand the transition may be difficult; we will provide an environment that allows our children to feel safe and loved. We understand that adoption is a lifelong developmental process and the effect trauma can have on children. We are prepared to love and advocate for our children whether adopted or biological. We have experience working with children dealing with grief, loss, and trauma, and we are open to utilizing outside resources
