Family Description
We are Lauren, Dan, and Mila. Mila is almost 11 years old and is excited to have a sibling. We are a very social family and are active in our community. We have lived in Idaho for 17 years and own a local family business, which gives us flexibility for family and travel time both nationally and internationally. Our home is located near mountains and rivers where we go snowboarding, tubing, hiking, biking, swimming, camping, hot springs, and anything and everything outdoors. Our family has a lot of energy, support and love to give, and we can't wait to add a new family member to join our fun shenanigans!
Preference Description
We are looking to adopt a girl or boy between 6 and 9 years old, of any ethnic background. We are open to a child with minor or moderate special needs, with no serious or permanent disabilities/disorders.
The Ertz Family Profile
One child, between ages 6 to 9 years old, with mild to moderate levels of need. Race is not a concern, as we have close friends from all backgrounds. We would honor all differences and ensure our child is able to maintain previous relationships that enable them to thrive now and in the future.
Introduction
Aside from school and work, we fill our weekends up spending time with other families. We love the outdoors and like to travel to air bnb's or go camping. Dan and Lauren enjoy golfing, and Mila is starting to take golf lessons. Mila also does piano. We enjoy music and attend concerts, BSU games, Saturday market, biking the greenbelt, hiking, fun runs, and just look for fun things to do!
Home and Community
We live in Meridian, which has the highest rated schools in Idaho. We are currently building a house in the same area - 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, bonus room, and office. We have a community pool and are best friends with our neighbors. We are minutes away from whatever we need - school, work, shopping, the foothills, Boise, and a lot of friends.
Parenting Experience
Our daughter, Mila, is almost 11 years old. We love children - for one because they keep you young. We have a lot of fun joking around together, and we always have Mila's friends over for play dates and sleepovers. We provide structure and guidance, while supporting kids to be themselves and not be too serious.
Support
We have a large network of friends and family, and our closest friends will fully be informed of the situation. Lauren and Dan's parents are in town frequently as well. We also have A New Beginning Agency that offers parent groups and one-on-one coaching to help us navigate the transition process.
Motivation to Adopt
We are fully committed to growing our family and understand that it will take time, patience, and a lot of work to build attachment and a trusting relationship. We selected A New Beginning because we know we will face challenges, and we are not afraid to ask for help. We are ready to do the work because our new child deserves a life that they can thrive in, and we will do everything we can to get them there. It's a long journey and we cannot wait to be there every step of the way.
