Preference Description
We are looking to adopt a child or siblings up to 15 years old. Siblings must be same gender due to living situation. No specific Age, gender, ethnic background, religion, etc.mild to moderate medical and special needs are possible depending on the situat
The Black Family Profile
We are wanting to add an adventure sibling set or individual child to our home. We are not to specific on age, race, sex, or religion of our future adoptive child(ren). We are hoping that by remaining open to differences we can find the child(ren) that will fit into our family the best.
Introduction
I am a preschool lead teacher with our local Head Start. I have always had a way with children. My mom noticed this when I was young and always nurtured my motherly ways. I have worked with children of all ages, stages, and abilities. I have been with our local Head Start now for almost 8 years and love the work I do. My husband Johnny is an equipment operator for VT West which is a company that makes and ships counter tops all over the west coast. He has had a few different positions and has been there for a little over 5 years now. We both Monday through Friday and enjoy our weekends off together. After work we enjoy making dinner together and sitting down discussing the day over dinner and TV. On the weekends we love to be outdoors as often as we can. We enjoy hunting, hiking, fishing, camping, mudding, rock hounding, canoeing, riding ATV's in the mountains and at the beach and so much more. Any time we are able to be we are outside on some sort of adventure.
Home and Community
Roseburg is a growing timber town. My mom was raised in this area as well as Johnny. I enjoy that Roseburg is big enough to have a variety of stores, and activities but small enough that its still a community. Working at Head Start allows me to work closely with grade schools in our local area. We have a variety of sports teams and extracurricular activities in our local area. We live at a dead end street on the out skirts of Roseburg. Our neighborhood is often filled with the laughter of children from our neighbors (and best friends) children. These children and their parents will be a huge part of our adopted child's life as we spend a lot of time with them.
Parenting Experience
As a Head Start teacher I have worked closesly with children every day. Most of these children come from low income, trauma, foster care, homeless, situations and have special needs to be successful. I work hard to meet these children where they are and help them build the skills to be ready for the future. Johnny and I have numerous nieces and nephews biologically and adopted that we are active in their lives. We enjoy taking them and doing special activities such as mentoring them in hunting, fishing, canoeing, atv riding, etc.
Support
We have a wonderful support system. All of our family and friends are so excited for this opportunity for us. Johnny has 8 sisters who are all wonderful support. His sister Sierra has offered to do at least one over night a month to give us time together. Our best friends also happen to be our next door neighbors so we have a lot of close support with them.
Motivation to Adopt
I have always wanted to be a mom. Since Johnny and I got together we have always dreamed of having a family. We have always talked about having children to encourage to love, respect, and appreciate the amazing outdoors like we do. We have always dreamed of having a family to spend time with, make memories, and do all sorts of fun adventures activities. We were trying to get pregnant, unfortunately all three of our pregnancies ended in miscarriage. We discussed multiple options to have our family dreams come true. We decided that instead of doing invitro or surrogacy that by pursuing adoption we could potentially give a child(ren) a loving, supportive, creative, adventurous, engaging home that possibly they don't have that now.
