Family Description

We are looking to grow our family. There are no other children in our home. We have an 11 year old golden retriever, horse at a barn, and family in the area with cows whom love the outdoors, nature, and animals. Our family is Latino/White, and our background is pediatric healthcare and past business owners on the Oregon Coast. Our home is in a college town, Eugene, Oregon close to the University of Oregon, an hour from the Coast, and a two hour drive to the mountains(Bend, Oregon), or to the city of Portland, Oregon. Luis & I look forward to being open, adaptable and sharing our lives with our future child.

Preference Description

We are looking to adopt a boy or girl, sibling group of 2, infant-12yrs of any ethnic background. We are willing to accept minor or medically correctable conditions, PTSD, attachment, learning, or developmental delays with no serious permanent disability.

The Lopez Family Profile

Our family is best suited for infant-12 years old, we have lived in a Spanish speaking only multigenerational family and are open to Spanish speaking, ethnically diverse backgrounds and cultures. We are also open to children from other ethnic backgrounds, cultures and religions. We will support and encourage previous connections and relationships that are positive and provide our child or children with support. We have no other children so we are able to adopt a sibling group of two in our three bedroom home and give them our undivided attention in our family.

Introduction

Breakfast, Lunch(Luis usually makes chili, tacos, quesadilla's), Dinner(we eat out several times/week) Daily Activities-Walking our dog to the local park, Feeding our horse, weightlifting(Luis), yoga(Jody) work from home, time spent with friends/family. We like to hike and have adventures on the weekends to the Oregon Coast, U of O Football, Basketball, Baseball, and Soccer games.

We celebrate Dia De Los Muertos, Hanukkah, Christmas, Passover and Easter. Weekends are planned for an adventure we try to have once a week. This includes trying new events like a rodeo, sporting event, music, or new restaurant.

Home and Community

We have a three bedroom home 1 bath, Jefferson Westside Neighborhood Eugene, Oregon. The closest park is Monroe Park and it's a short walk or drive to downtown Eugene for farmer's markets, University of Oregon, bike trails, and several hiking trails. There is soccer leagues, dance schools, Eugene Waldorf school, Eugene Christian school, Far Horizons Montessori, O'Hara Catholic elementary school in our area as education options. The local public school is Cesar E Chavez Elementary school a couple blocks from our home.

Parenting Experience

Jody was in a long term relationship during Respiratory College with a man who had previously had three children whom her fiance had physical custody and this was when she decided one day she wanted to be a Mom when the relationship ended. She has been working at Children ???? ???? ???? s Hospital since 2001.

Luis has never had any children even though we have always wanted to start a family. He has worked at Children's Hospital since 2005 and is regarded as one of the favorite Uncle's to his siblings nephews and extended family.

We have training in trauma informed parenting, mandated child abuse reporters/training in our careers, foundations training, multiple audible and books "the boy who was raised as a dog" "the connected child" to name a few that has resonated with our family.
