Hi! We are the Macys! We are hoping to find 2 siblings or single children to be a part of our family. We do not have a specific age, race, culture or sex in mind. We are open to a variety of behavioral and mental health needs if they are mild to moderate and academic needs also.
We will provide our children with a peaceful, loving home and help them heal and grow. We are happy to support their prior relationships and will nurture their individual interests.
Our family consists of Glen and Kellee Macy who have been happily married for six years and our dog Fido. We are both gentle, nurturing people and would describe our home-life as peaceful, easygoing and playful.
Regarding free time, we enjoy outdoor activities including camping, hiking, fishing, boating, riding bikes, snow sports, swimming, yoga and dancing. We also like to travel and explore our world near and far. At home we enjoy playing games, reading, cooking, going for walks, listening to music, watching movies, gardening, being silly, and enjoying time with one another and Fido.
Our work schedules are flexible with Kellee working as a nurse 2 days a week, and Glen working as a funeral director every other week.
We live in a house that backs up to a peaceful natural area with tall trees and an abundance of wildlife in McMinnville Oregon. Our home is a short walk to the library, pool, schools (including a Spanish immersion program), parks and downtown.
Our city's Parks and Recreation Department offers many extracurricular activities for children including swimming, sports, outdoor education and performing and visual art programs.
We do not have any children, but we spend a lot of time with our seven nieces and nephews, and our god children.
Being a nurse who has worked with youth in mental health and a being a funeral director, our professions help us understand loss, grief and trauma.
We also have experience working in education and will be strong advocates for our children's learning needs. Glen taught swim lessons to children and was a lifeguard at the community pool. Kellee was a nanny for several families, taught snow sports to children and English and Math to children abroad.
As parents, we are committed to learning what we need to, to meet the needs of our children as they evolve. We have found the Foundations courses to be helpful as well as a variety of videos, book, pod casts and trainings.
We have a strong support network in McMinnville consisting of many caring family members and friends, 3 friends that have adopted children themselves, a CASA volunteer and pediatrician, whom have all offered to support us on our adoption journey.
Our community's Family and Youth Services offer behavioral and mental health services including parent-child interactive therapy, parenting classes, adoption support services, Wraparound services and also academic support services.
We will collaborate with any professionals, family or friends that were present prior to the adoption, to seek guidance and support for our adoption.
Rather than conceive our own children, we decided to adopt children from foster care. We enjoy children very much and see the need of children in our community as more important than the experience of having our own.
We have worked through many challenges and have learned to navigate them as a loving and thoughtful team. We take any commitment we make seriously and are very committed to caring for our future children.
Thank you for taking the time to read our profile. We look forward to talking with you! :)
