Family Description

We are excited to add to our family through adoption and are looking for a girl younger than our son who will be seven in July. We have been married 16 years in October and want to grow our family by helping a little girl. We enjoy being active together as a family by riding bike, running, attending church, playing board games, video games, and watching movies. We are thrilled to add another family member and our family and friends also can't wait. Thanks for considering us in your adoption journey.

Preference Description

We are looking to adopt a girl younger or older than our 7 year old son. We don't want them in the same grade in school. He is in 2nd grade. We are willing to accept some physical and developmental delays but would need to discuss it as a family.

Introduction

Hello from the Dancer Family: Wayne, KariLee, and Micah. We are so excited to adopt and add to our family. We are seeking a girl younger than our son who was born July 22, 2012 or older than him. We don't want them in the same grade in school. Micah had entered second grade. Right now we are seeking just one child of any race or ethnicity. We have a very diverse extended family with children adopted from Russia, China, and Uganda. Keeping our adopted child in touch with her foster and adoptive family is easier with technology these days and we are open to this, especially as she adjusts to our family and community.

Child Preferences

Here is a little more information about each of us. Wayne-I am an engineer and I work with electronics and lean manufacturing. Currently our company makes computer screens for commercial and industrial use. Some common places they are include yogurt shops (to pick a flavor) and Little Caesar's Pizza(when you use your phone to pick up a waiting pizza). We are slowing entering the commercial oven industry so that is exciting. I have a very flexible work schedule and enjoy designing new processes or testing components. I also love playing video games in my free time and enjoy running, watching movies, and attending church with my family. KariLee-I am starting my 15th year teaching Kindergarten and love it. In my free time, I enjoy running, attending church, watching football (Go Denver!) and spending time with my family. My friends and family are very important to me so I stay well connected through technology with people that live out of state. Micah-I am in the second grade and I love Legos and dinosaurs. I am excited to have a sister to teach things to. We play games as a family and watch movies which is fun. Sometimes we visit the zoo or another place together and I love that.

Home and Community

We live in a quiet community southeast of Phoenix, Arizona. It is a community with many houses but not business per se so suburban/rural. There are schools, a hospital, YMCA, and some stores within 10 minutes but a main shopping center is 20 minutes away-Queen Creek Marketplace. This center has a movie theater and many shops and restaurants to explore. Micah attended school where I teach so that will be where our daughter goes. If she is too young for school, she will be attending the STEAM academy which is a daycare facility down the street from our school.

Parenting Experience

Like I mentioned, I have been a teacher for 14 years and a parent to Micah for 7 years. I am also the youngest of 4 and we were the oldest grandchildren on both sides of the family. Wayne has parented Micah for 7 years and worked with youth in the past. We both have completed Foster Parent College and learned some great concepts there. I have seen MANY situations with children/families in my years teaching and know they have molded my parenting through the years.

Support

We have a support system here in Arizona from our close friends. We do not live by family but have lived here 14 years and know many people. Our church is also a wonderful resource if we need something and they are always willing to assist us in a crisis. We are open to other resources such as counseling if need be. We want our daughter to feel loved and accepted in her new community/life.

Motivation to Adopt

We are motivated to adopt because we want to expand our family and having another child is dangerous for my health. I had Micah 6 weeks early and he was doing okay but my vitals and situation was very scary. The doctors advised against having another child and we want to make sure I am healthy to raise Micah so we have been praying about adopting since he was born. It is on our heart to help a child has no other options and give them unconditional love and support through their entire live. What a privilege it would be. We can not wait!!!
