What is a Child Matching Event?

A Child Matching Event features children that are waiting for a forever family through an online webinar. Social workers have the ability to present children that are on their caseload to an audience of home study approved families. During the event social workers present 4-7 minutes of information about a child and families have the ability to ask questions about the featured children to better see if that child would be a good fit for their family.

What is a Family Matching Event?

A Family Matching Event features families that are home study approved and looking to add to their family through an online webinar. Families present to an audience of social workers and social workers can then ask as many questions as they want to better see if any child on their caseload would be a good fit with one of the featured families.

What is the difference between a child matching event and a family matching event?

A Child Matching Event feature children that are looking for a forever family. Social workers then pre-register as a presenter with the AFFEC recruitment coordinator and present children on their caseload to an audience of home study approved families. A Family Matching Event features families that pre-register with the AFFEC recruitment coordinator. At a Family Matching Event any social worker can register to see if any of the featured families could potentially be a good fit for their children.

Why would I want to participate/attend in a matching event?

Signing up to be a presenter in a Family Matching Event allows you to present to an audience of social workers to provide them with more information about you and your family. This allows them to ask you specific questions to see if you might be a good fit for a child on their caseload.

Registering to attend a child matching event allows you to get more information about a featured child that you may not get from an online profile. Additionally, you can ask more specific question to see if the featured child would be a good fit for your family.

How do I sign up to be a presenter and feature my family in a Family Matching Event?

How do I sign up to attend a Child Matching Event?

You must fill out our registration form and have a current home study. Click here to register!

What is a webinar?

The day before the event you are given a special login link. You click on that link and it brings you into the program, which is very similar to Skype. Both the presenters and attendees view a power point facilitated by AFFEC and view the PowerPoint during the Matching Event. From there you have the ability to ask question about the featured children if you would like more information then what is presented.

How many social workers register on average?

We average 20 social workers with a caseload from 10-40 children each registering for our Family Matching Events.

Can people see me or hear me during the event?

Presenters are un-muted when it is their time to speak but if you are just attending the event you do not speak during the event. Both presenters and attendees view a PowerPoint of the featured families or children.

How do I submit my home study on a featured child?

After a Child Matching Event is over you can request to submit your home study on any of the featured children through our survey concluding the event.
